内容简介:

In order to meet the need of radio-on-chip, on-chip antennas are preferred. However, conventional CMOS on-chip antennas suffer from their poor radiation efficiencies because of the low resistivity and high permittivity of the silicon substrate. In this talk, innovative broadband high-efficiency on-chip antennas fabricated using a standard 0.18-μm CMOS process with an artificial magnetic conductor for 60-GHz applications will be addressed. Several broadband on-chip antennas will also be demonstrated. In the meantime, antenna-in-package is still a good choice for radio-in-package solutions. Integrated broadband circularly-polarized patch antenna arrays using the LTCC technology for 60-Ghz applications will be discussed. In this talk, I would also briefly introduce my other research activities in the MMIC modeling and packaging laboratory at NUS including MMIC device modeling, characterization and designs.

报告人简介:

Yong Xin Guo joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore, as an Assistant Professor in February 2009. He received the Ph.D. degree from City University of Hong Kong in electronic engineering in 2001. Now he is also the laboratory supervisor for the MMIC modelling and packaging laboratory of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. From July 2004 to January 2009, he was an adjunct Assistant/Associate Professor of the National University of Singapore. From September 2001 to January 2009, he was with the Institute for Infocomm Research, Singapore, as a Research Scientist.  He has authored or co-authored 88 international journal papers and 97 international conference papers. Thus far, his publications have been cited by others more than 743 times and the H-index is 17 (source: Scopus). He holds one Chinese Patent and one U.S. patent. His current research interests include low-temperature co-fired ceramics-based system-on-package technology, microwave circuits, and MMIC modelling and design, microstrip antennas for wireless communications, implantable/wearable antennas and on-body/in-body channel modelling for medical applications, silicon-based millimetre-wave/THz on-chip antennas.

Dr Guo served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) co-chair for IEEE International Symposium on Radio Frequency Integration Technology (RFIT2009). He has been an organizer and chair for a special session on 60-GHz systems in APMC2008 and a workshop on radio-over-fiber in RWS2008. He has been a TPC member and session chair for numerous conferences and workshops. He has also been in the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Microwave Science and Technology. His PhD student received the best student paper award in 2010 International conference on microwave and millimetre wave technology (ICMMT2010), Chengdu, China. He was a recipient of the Young Investigator Award 2009, National University of Singapore.
