题 目: Nature Inspired Optimization Techniques and Their Application to Antenna Design Like any other system to be designed, antenna systems design also needs to be performed with a constrained optimization approach. Various useful antenna parameters like Gain, Bandwidth and Efficiency etc are to be balanced to yield an optimal solution suitable for a given application. This process of optimization if often impossible to achieve with a classical gradient based hard computing approach, because of the multivariate multimodal and extremely complex nature of the issues involved. Accordingly, in recent times efforts are being made to realize quasi optimal designs successfully by following optimization algorithms developed following various natural processes. Such algorithms include Genetic Algorithms, Simulated Annealing, Ant Colony Optimization, Particle Swarm Optimization, Differential Evolution etc along with their variants. This talk provides an overview of the underlying principle of such algorithms, as also their comparison in terms of utility in antenna related applications. Some successful designs of antenna system are finally presented to illustrate how these techniques can be applied to optimal antenna design problems. |
