学术报告会通知
This talk will first introduce a EPSRC funded Programme Grant, called TOUCAN. This project, is investigating ultimate network convergence enabled by a radically new technology agnostic architecture targeting a wide range of applications and end users. The TOUCAN architecture will facilitate optimal interconnection of network technology domains of optical, wireless, and visible light communication systems with high flexibility, adaptability, and efficiency, and will address the Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) requirements. The convergence of these heterogeneous network domains is achieved by software-defined network control with network resource description, abstraction and virtualization. This talk will also discuss a new network resource description framework we recently proposed to model the information about the physical network infrastructure. This framework can be applied to networks such as 5G networks to optimize the spectral, energy, and economic efficiency. The test and demo platform called “TOUCAN Lab” will be built by interconnecting the communication testbeds of the project partners by JANET, on which research achievements and service use cases can be implemented, tested, and demonstrated. |
